Welcome to andau.

I’ve always loved dressing up and styling my outfits. You could say my interest in fashion runs in the family. My mum used to make all her own clothes when she was a teenager, and as a child, my friends and I would go through her cupboard and dress up in her creations from the 80s. My baka (grandmother) is a self-taught seamstress and has been sewing her whole life. I have lots of memories wearing the clothes she made for my siblings and me. In more recent years, i’ve enjoyed sewing with her.

In 2013 i attended Melbourne Spring Fashion Week with my high school fashion class. This was the first time I’d ever been to a live runway show and it was the day I got a sense of what it would be like to work in fashion. I remember the energy in the room and the feeling of awe watching the designs come down the runway. I thought, imagine doing this. The idea of putting my creations out there for others to enjoy really spoke to me.

I felt in my soul that this was the direction I wanted to go in, but at the time, my desire for stability and security prevailed. So i got an accounting degree and spent the better part of the next 10 years in the corporate world.

This journey has brought me full circle. I’m so excited to finally act on a passion that’s been simmering away all this time. I'm grateful to share this journey with both my mum and my baka, who have significantly influenced the creation of andau.

My wish is for you to feel confident in expressing yourself through your fashion choices. So much attention and thought is put into each andau design – I hope you love wearing the pieces as much as i’ve enjoyed bringing them to life.
